CELIOS officially launched the Annual China–Indonesia Survey 2025 in Jakarta, presenting key findings from a nationwide study on Indonesian public perceptions of China amid increasingly intensive bilateral relations under President Prabowo Subianto’s administration. The launch served as a platform for various stakeholders to engage in dialogue and gain a deeper understanding of public views on China’s role in Indonesia’s national development.
The survey shows that China is generally perceived as a major economic partner, particularly in trade, investment, and infrastructure. Public confidence in cooperation on the energy transition is also high, alongside growing interest in Chinese electric vehicles. At the same time, attention to technology, security, and sovereignty remains significant, reflecting a public perspective that is pragmatic yet cautious. All speakers agreed that the survey is highly engaging and provides timely and valuable insights to support policy discussions and enrich public debate on Indonesia–China relations.
