CELIOS, in collaboration with Pluang, released the report “The Impact of Multi-Asset Applications on Retail Investor Growth.” The study comes amid a digital disruption era and the rapid growth of retail investors in Indonesia, particularly since the COVID-19 pandemic. By May 2022, the number of retail investors in the capital market had reached 8.86 million, with a significant majority from the millennial generation. Multi-asset applications allow users to manage and diversify various asset classes, including stocks, mutual funds, and crypto, all within a single platform.
Based on a survey of 3,530 respondents across Indonesia, the study found that multi-asset applications positively accelerate financial inclusion and literacy, especially among young investors. Ninety-three percent of respondents believe that these investment platforms contribute to national economic growth through increased tax revenues and the redirection of funds to more productive activities. Domestic retail investors also play a key role in strengthening economic resilience against external shocks.
With 90% of respondents expressing interest in adding more investment instruments through multi-asset applications, the report recommends strengthening regulations to support these platforms, enhancing collaboration among regulators, and improving financial literacy through formal education and Fin-fluencers. This approach aims to foster retail investor growth while contributing positively to the national economy.
