  • Industrial and Technological Collaborations: On June 12-13, 2024 Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita visited Beijing and met with Chinese Minister of Industry and Information Technology Jin Zhuanglong, during the meeting discussed cooperation in the development of electric vehicles (EV) and the petrochemical sector with China, given that the potential benefits of the two sectors are quite large for each country. During the meeting, Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita also emphasized that the opportunities for the EV industry in Indonesia are still wide. This is in line with the government’s policy from 2019 which is committed to start developing advanced technology that is environmentally sound and low emission, with battery electric vehicles (BEV) as the main priority. Therefore, the Minister of Industry encouraged China’s electric vehicle industry to increase the automotive industry’s contribution to export value through BEVs and invited them to start using Nickel Manganese Cobalt (NMC) battery cells in the electric vehicle industry. As for the petrochemical industry itself, Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita assessed that new investment opportunities are wide open and profitable, for this reason, he invited business actors in the petrochemical sector to expand their business in Indonesia.
  • Parliamentary Cooperation and Infrastructure Development: The House of Representatives’ Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Committee (BKSAP) received a visit from the Parliament of the People’s Republic of China.   • Cooperation in Fire Safety: On Monday 17 June 2024, the Ministry of Home Affairs’ Directorate General of Regional Administration (Adwil) team met with a Chinese delegation consisting of the Ministry of Emergency Management/China Fire and Rescue, the leadership of the Confederation of Fire Protection Association Asia and large Chinese companies operating in the field of Fire Safety in Guangzhou, China. The meeting was held to strengthen and expand cooperative relations between Indonesia and the Republic of China in the fields of fire prevention technology and management between the two countries. Then, the strategy created by the Ministry is to improve fire services in the regions through international cooperation, especially in terms of increasing human resource capacity and firefighting infrastructure.
  • Exploring Investment Opportunities: On June 18, 2024, the International Business Association (IBA) facilitated a visit by the Southeast Asia One Belt One Road delegation from China to Indonesia. Led by Shan Shan, Chairman of IBA, the delegation conducted a working visit covering strategic areas such as Bintan Island, Batam, and Jakarta. The primary objective was to explore investment opportunities and strengthen economic cooperation between Indonesia and China.

  • Enforcement Against Illegal Imports: On Thursday 20 June 2024 Zulkifli Hasan, Minister of Trade, reviewed illegal ceramic and tableware products resulting from surveillance in Surabaya, East Java. A total of 4,565,598 ceramic and tableware products worth Rp. 79,897,965,000 from China will be destroyed by the Ministry of Trade because it does not have a Product Use Mark (SPPT) certificate and Goods Registration Number (NPB).
  • RCEP Forum in Huangshan: On Friday 21 June 2024 a forum regarding the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) was opened in Huangshan, Anhui Province, east China. The forum was opened to increase cooperation in green development sectors, especially between member countries. In the RCEP forum, a letter of intent (LoI) for friendly cooperation between Anhui and Indonesia’s East Kalimantan Province was signed by representatives of the two governments. With these RCEP activities, it is hoped that cooperation and synergy between RCEP member countries can be strengthened in various sectors, including in the fields of trade, investment and sustainable development.
  • Preparations for Regional Expos: On Thursday, June 26, 2024 the Director of Primary Product Export Development, Miftah Farid attended the Senior Official Meeting (SOM) which took place in Nanning Guangxi, China. The activity is to prepare Indonesia’s participation in the 2024 China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO). Miftah said that Indonesia will be present at the annual CAEXPO event through the Commodity Pavilion, City of Charm, and ASEAN High-Tech Gallery. Miftah also had a bilateral meeting with representatives of the CAEXPO Secretariat to discuss several issues. This is to encourage an increase in CAEXPO’s contribution in promoting Indonesia’s trade, investment and tourism potential. On September 24-25, 2024 Indonesia will also take part in the China-ASEAN Business and Investment Summit (CABIS) which will be held in Nanning, China. This is an effort to increase the intensity of connections between Indonesian and Chinese businesses.
  • Manado Scuba Represents Indonesia at China B-to-B Tourism Event: Manado Scuba was selected by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy on June 27, 2024, to represent Indonesia at a business-to-business (B-to-B) meeting in Shanghai. The decline in palm oil exports also occurred for India with an initial amount of 456 thousand tons to 332 thousand tons, and for Bangladesh with an initial amount of 162 thousand tons to 67 thousand tons, as well as Pakistan with an initial amount of 270 thousand tons to 182 thousand tons, and the Netherlands from 169 thousand tons to 108 thousand tons.

With intentions to produce vehicles locally at their Cikampek factory in Karawang Regency, West Java, GAC AION aims to cater to Indonesia’s growing demand for electric vehicles (EVs). Their lineup includes BEV variants offering different mileage ranges, demonstrating China’s strategic investments in Indonesia’s automotive sector.
  • Indonesia-China Industrial Cooperation under RCEP: The Ministry of Industry of Indonesia held discussions with China’s RCEP Industrial Cooperation Committee Chair and Chinese business representatives in Jakarta.
